This pretty much sums up what you’ll see in the Pacific Northwest temperate rainforests. This particular area is part of the Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park. Much like tropical rainforests, green is the dominant color even in winter and everything grows on everything else. The main reason temperate rainforests exist is due to an obscene amount of rainfall…on average, 150 inches each year (or 12-13 FEET of rainfall if you want to think of it that way). What also comes as a surprise is that temperate rainforests harbor more biomass than tropical rainforests. In some cases, up to three times as much.
